Tom Collins Recipe

Have you ever enjoyed a gin and tonic and through this could taste better with a splash of refreshing lemon juice? Well, let me introduce you to the Tom Collins cocktail. Thick of this as a spiked fresh lemon water. This is my Tom Collins recipe!

A Tom Collins is a very refreshing and crisp cocktail. With the crisp, bitter flavor similar to a gin and tonic but the added refreshment flavor of lemon, this cocktail is perfect for a warm afternoon. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add a splash of simple syrup and this recipe will be perfect! It’s not as dry as a gin and tonic but still crisp and refreshing!

I encourage you to be more present in life. Check in with your family, friends and even yourself. Turn the TV off, pause your podcast or whatever it is that you have on in the background. Our world is very multi-tasking heavy right now. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but sometimes being in the moment to think or check in with someone can be very good for you.

Ways that I am planning on being better at this are:

  1. Read for 20 minutes each day. To help me unwind and reduce blue light exposure. I’m hoping this will help me calm down rather than getting stuck scrolling social media and getting my brain more activated.
  2. Be intentional about asking my husband how his day was and listening to him. Not while I’m cooking or doing something else but sitting down and just listening.
  3. Spending time outside with Ellie (our golden retriever) without my phone. It’s easy to scroll while you take your dog outside but I want to give her my full attention and make sure that she is getting time with me, especially in the heat of these Arizona summers… Even if it is just watching her chew her stick!
