Morning Acne Skincare Routine

The best way to wake myself up in the morning is to freshen up my skin with a morning skincare routine. I have naturally oily skin so washing all of the nightly gunk off to start the day helps me feel like a new person! It is the first thing that I do to really kick start my morning and start the day off on the right foot.

My morning routine does differ from my night time skincare routine. The best results of a skincare routine are using them both consistently in the morning and the evening. They are similar but not the same.

Step 1. Gua Sha & Ice Roller

To help with any inflammation or swelling from the night, I use a Gua Sha and Ice Roller. The Gua Sha gently evens out the collagen throughout your face and neck to help relax the inflammation in the face. The ice roller gently cools and evens out the collagen around the most sensitive areas of your face such as around your eyes.

Step 2. Skincare Regimen

I have acne prone skin which means I have naturally oily skin that can lead to easy breakouts. I use the Unblemish regimen from Rodan + Fields. This regimen helps clean my skin of the overproduction of oils, dirt buildup and other impurities.

I get horrible stress breakouts so when I am going through major life changes, such as moving across the country, I will switch to the Spotless Regimen from Rodan + Fields. This is for teen and young adult acne but it is a more intense treatment to help manage the bad breakouts that I get.

If you are struggling with your skin or want to find a new, good quality skincare regimen specifically for your skin type, you can take this quiz to get matched with the regimen for your skin needs.

Step 3. Serums

Active Hydration Serum

When treating acne, dry skin or aging, it is extremely important to keep your skin HYDRATED. I use the Active Hydration Serum from Rodan + Fields. I have tried other serums and moisturizers but this one is by far my favorite. The main reason is it is oil free. For all of my oily skin friends, you will appreciate this more than anyone. It also ACTIVELY hydrates your skin for up to 8 hours.

This product actively works throughout the day and night. It creates a water reservoir in your skin. When it feels your skin begin to dry, it actively draws in moisture from the air to keep your skin hydrated. Many moisturizers use oil products to make your skin feel hydrated and look glowing rather than actually hydrating it. For best results, use this product after your toner or face wash if you do not use a toner.

Total RF Serum

To help prevent signs of aging, I use the Total RF serum from Rodan + Fields. This light weight serum revitalizes the skin to be stronger, healthier and more resilient. It visibly tightens the skin and smooths wrinkles and sagging skin. It is another oil free product so you don’t have to worry about adding more oily products to your face.

Step 4. Eye Cream

In the mornings, I use the Bright Eye Complex from Rodan + Fields. This is basically a cup of coffee for your eyes! It helps brighten the dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. It will help your eyes look younger and brighter over time. Perfect for the nights you don’t get much rest.

Step 5: SPF

Sun protection is one of the most important and underrated aspects of a skincare routine. As much as we love the sun, the sun does not love us back. I use the Recharge Protect+Blur Broad Spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen. It provides a 2-in-1 primer and sunscreen that virtually disappears on the skin to deliver sun protection and a smooth, pore-less look. It is lightweight and smells like a bed roses which is the best way to finish my skincare routine!

Even if you don’t use the same products as I do, I encourage you to use a good skincare routine to help you look forward to your morning and night time routine. It will get you excited and you will look forward to getting ready and winding down from a day. It helps set a routine that we get used to which helps our brain begin to prepare for the adjustment in the day.
