My monthly book review for June is here! June was a good month for books! I reread one of my favorite books and discovered a new book within an incredible series I read in college! Both of these are fiction stories that have deep, meaningful messages. I truly enjoyed both books! They capture you and take you along a character’s life while offering a meaningful life message!
1. Redeeming Love by: Francine Rivers
This is a story about a woman who is sold into prostitution as a young girl (I know, not what you were expecting). Redeeming Love is a fictional story based on the story of Hosea and Gomer from in the Bible . Hosea trusted God’s call and married Gomer, a known prostitute. He showed her the proper love that she had never received before. Angel, the main character, has to learn what love truly is and learn how to allow herself to deserve it despite her past. Once Josea saves Angel, he has to rely on God to be patient with her and respect her walls she has to protect herself.
Redeeming Love is so beautifully written and captivates you throughout the entire story. I love the fictional take on a true bible story. It allows us to relate more to the characters as we can walk through their choices with them and know how they feel. I have to imagine this is how both Hosea and Gomer felt when God was taking them through this story during their lives. This is one of my top 5 books that I have ever read. One reason is the message of forgiveness from God and forgiveness from yourself. The second reason is the message that you are never too late to start over. No matter where you have been, what you have done, it is never too late for you to get your life back on track and make it beautiful!
2. Forgiving Paris by: Karen Kingsbury
This book is an extension of the Baxter Series written by Karen Kingsbury. Ashley Baxter returns to the city of Paris for the first time in two decades after experiencing some of her darkest moments. Going back brought her so much fear of returning to the city that almost destroyed her dreams of becoming an artist. However, she learns how not only to return to the scene of her past but also how to find the goodness that happened while she was there.
Please let me know if you read either of these and what your thoughts are! I love the messages and the meaning behind both of them and hope to share them with more people! Also, send me all of your book recommendations! I’m always on the hunt for the next big book!
