A martini is one of the most classic cocktails and is wildly popular. I love sipping on a martini and how it makes me feel strong and powerful. There are many different ways that you can make a martini and ways that you can dress it up. A martini is one of the easiest cocktails to customize for your liking. Below are three different variations of a martini recipe if you are new to the cocktail!

A martini is a bold cocktail and full of strong flavors. It is full of sophistication and offers many different variations. You can make it stronger, dryer or sweeter depending on the type of drink that you prefer. Martini’s aren’t for everyone but I recommend trying a few different variations before saying you don’t like the drink. Have an open mind when trying one and enjoy the martini life, even if it is just for one drink!

The important thing to note is that you can make a martini with either vodka or gin. People are very specific about the liquor that is used in their martinis. I usually prefer vodka because I like the flavor of vodka more. If you prefer gin, I recommend switching gin with vodka for all of the martini recipes below!

Classic Martini Recipe

Recipe – 2:1 ratio

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce vermouth

Dry Martini Recipe

Recipe – 4:1 ratio

  • 4 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce vermouth

Dirty Martini Recipe

Recipe – classic or dry

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce vermouth
  • 3 tsp olive brine
  • Lemon twist OR 2 olives

Cocktail Directions

  1. Chill your martini glass by either pouring ice in or letting it sit in the freezer. 
  2. Fill your mixing glass with vodka and vermouth. If you prefer a dirty martini, begin with 1 tsp of olive brine.
  3. Mix the cocktail with a mixing spoon until it’s ice cold (about 30 seconds). For a dirty martini, taste and add olive brine as needed.
  4. Grab your martini glass out of the freezer or dump the ice into the sink. Strain your cocktail into the chilled martini glass.
  5. Garnish with a lemon twist or 2-3 cocktail olives. If you garnish with a lemon twist, cut the rind over the martini to help some of the juices mix into your drink. This will add a small hint of lemon for an added flavor
  6. ENJOY!
