24 Hours in Seattle, Washington

24 hours in Seattle, Washington! Seattle is such an incredible city with so many attractions, restaurants and various things to do. It can be overwhelming trying to choose what to do or where to go. After visiting for a quick overnight trip, this is what we did in Seattle for 24 hours!

We spent 24 hours in Seattle after taking our trip on Amtrak’s Coastal Starlight. It’s a 36 hour train ride from Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington. We arrived in the evening and decided to make a quick 24 hour stay before heading back home.

We arrived at The King Street Station which is located in downtown Seattle so we didn’t venture out of the city. In this blog post, I break down where we stayed, where we ate and how we got around downtown without a rental car! This is what we did for 24 hours in Seattle!

Where We Stayed

Since we only had 24 hours in Seattle, we decided to book a hotel in Downtown. We stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. The hotel is downtown and very close to some of the most popular sites such as Pikes Place, Seattle Art Museum and Benaroya Hall.

The hotel was very nice and clean. We were in a rush to find some food when we arrived. The woman who checked us in was very kind to recommend a few restaurants nearby. The next day, we had an 11 am check out and they were kind enough to hold our bags for us while we explored the city before our evening flight.

The interior was a little outdated but they kept up with everything nicely! They have a restaurant and bar near the lobby. We didn’t eat there because they closed at 9:00 pm but it seemed nice! They had complimentary tea and coffee in the morning which was fantastic considering we were exhausted from our trip there.

Where We Ate In Seattle

Only having 24 hours in Seattle, you are limited on how many things you can do. One of those includes restaurants and food that you can try. We did our best to find unique places in Seattle but were definitely limited by not having a car. Not having a car wasn’t bad at all and with access to car services, you can get anywhere you want!

We ate dinner at Vons 1000 Spirits for dinner. The food was delicious! We ordered pork confit fries as an appetizer. For entrees we ordered the Mary’s Peppered Fried Chicken sandwich and the Hass Avocado and Billionaire’s Bacon burger. Everything was delicious and unique to Seattle. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a decent restaurant downtown and unique to the city!

For breakfast, we walked to Pikes Place Market and grabbed a couple of donuts at the entrance then grabbed coffees at the original Starbucks. For lunch, we ate at Lowell’s located within Pikes Place Market. Another Seattle original and an incredible choice! We had a few beers then ordered Alaskan Cod fish and chips and fresh caught Salmon. It was by far the best Salmon I have ever had. I would highly recommend it!

What We Did In Seattle

We were very limited by only having 24 hours in Seattle. When we got into town, we grabbed dinner but aside from that, downtown was very quiet when we visited. Most of our time exploring was on Sunday. We walked to Pikes Place Market and explored everything they had going on that weekend.

It was tulip season when we visited so the flower stations were full of beautiful tulips! We got to watch the fish shop throw the fish and we meandered throughout the vendor’s shops! They have so many artisans and local businesses that have their products available to sell. It was so much fun to see all of the unique items, local artwork and locally grown produce that was available.

This is also where the famous gum wall is so you can look at all of the disgustingness of that as well! I was so excited to see it and then got so grossed out being around all of that chewed up gum haha!

After spending about five hours at Pikes Place, we ventured down to Pier 62. Here, you can watch the ferry boats, ride the ferris wheel or grab a bite to eat or drink. It’s a beautiful spot to walk around and look out at Elliot Bay.

Wrapping Up 24 Hours in Seattle

Obviously, there are so many things to do when you only have 24 hours in Seattle. You can visit the Space Needle, Uptown Seattle or the SW Queen Anne Greenbelt. There is also a Starbucks Roastary that I really wanted to visit but we didn’t have the time.

We honestly loved our time here so much! It was my first time in Seattle so I wanted to go and visit a lot of the most popular sites. However, I will be planning a trip for a longer stay. We had a wonderful experience and even though we only had 24 hours in Seattle, it was an incredible 24 hours!
