Best coffee shops in Tucson

When traveling or moving to a new city, one of my first goals is to find the best coffee in town. I like having a place to start my day or grab a pick me up and that place becomes my go-to when I go back. A good coffee shop on a trip can also become a core memory for the trip. When I travel to new cities and find that perfect coffee shop, I always remember the smell, the atmosphere and overall feel of the space and the taste of the coffee. So I put together my list of the best coffee shops in Tucson, Arizona!

Since moving to Tucson, I have discovered that this city is full of character! I have explored the city so much since moving here and there is still so much to see! From finding the best brunch spots, hikes or coffee shops, my goal is to help spread the word that Tucson is an incredible city to be a part of! From what I have found, Tucson is a unique city full of character with so much to offer!

While Tucson has all of the normal chain coffee spots such as Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Dunkin’, etc. sometimes finding a local coffee shop can be so much better! I have been to each of these coffee shops and spent time at each one. Some are perfect for homework, reading or catching up with friends and others are best for grabbing coffee on your way to work, class or to take with you on your next excursion around Tucson. Depending on what you are looking for, the five coffee shops below are incredible options!

Barista Del Barrio

Barista Del Barrio is less of a coffee shop and more of a coffee spot. They have both coffee and food such as breakfast tacos. It is a walk up order window with outdoor seating for eating, lounging or catching up with friends! The line is usually long so make sure that you aren’t in a rush when you go.

My go-to order is an iced latte with horchesso, one of their signature flavors. For food, I love their potato, egg, bacon and cheese breakfast burrito. Their black coffee is also great if you don’t like any of the added flavors! They are a family owned restaurant with their special family recipes which makes this spot special. I love supporting small, family owned businesses, especially when they are as good as this coffee shop! They are one of my personal favorite coffee shops in Tucson!

Decibel Coffee Works

Decibel Coffee Works is a local coffee shop that operates out of a shipping container within the Annex shopping center at the Mercado District. It has a walk up order window and outdoor seating available for working, catching up with friends or reading a book. This isn’t the best spot if you are a in a hurry so I would suggest going here when you want to spend some time outside and hang out for a little while. You can grab a coffee while you shop around the Annex which is a great shopping area in Tucson!

I personally order the iced vanilla latte when it’s warm outside and the basic black coffee when it’s chilly. They also offer a small selection of food such as scones, yogurt and biscuits. They also have a special selection of seasonal drinks to choose from which are delicious! Decibel has a good coffee selection that is in a great location and has a great atmosphere! They are also dog friendly so when they weather permits, take your furry friends for a coffee treat!

Presta Coffee Roasters

Presta Coffee Roasters is a very popular coffee shop that has three locations around Tucson. This is a great coffee shop to go to if you are looking to grab a coffee and do some work or read a book. Each of their locations has a different atmosphere that you can try out and find the one that best suits what you are looking for!

This coffee shop is a popular spot for students attending the University of Arizona. You can grab a black coffee that they roast themselves and set up at a table for a few hours. I typically order their black coffee because they proudly roast their own beans and brew their own coffee. They have a small selection of drinks but they are also one of the most popular coffee spots in Tucson.

Coffee Times Drive Thru

Coffee Times is a freestanding drive through coffee location. They have one location with two drive thru windows on either side. This isn’t a coffee spot that you can go to visit and spend time at, rather you get to drive off and enjoy their coffee on the go!

My favorite thing to order here is their lavender iced latte. It has the perfect combination of lavender, milk and coffee to not be too sweet but full of flavor! Their black coffee is delicious as well! They have small food options such as muffins, bagels which cream cheese, scones and more. All for a really decent price as well!

Flora’s Market Run

Flora’s market Run is one of my favorite coffee shops in Tucson! They have fresh coffee and pastries every morning. They also have a bakery within the building so you can easily grab a pastry from the bakery and walk over to the restaurant to grab some coffee!

Flora’s Market Run is not just a coffee shop. It is a restaurant, bakery and fresh market. They offer a lot of different options but their coffee is incredible! They have seasonal flavors that you can add to any latte or coffee. I personally love the lavender honey iced latte or a cappuccino. They have breakfast options that you can order instead of pastries if you are wanting something more filling. You can set up at a table in a beautifully designed restaurant that has the atmosphere of a perfect coffee shop.

Screwbean Brewing

While the name has the word “brewing” in it, don’t worry, Screwbean Brewing has an extensive coffee selection! This coffee shop serves both coffee and alcohol! They have large garage door style windows that let in a lot of natural light which helps make it feel bright, airy and very welcoming! So, whether you are wanting caffeine for a long study session or want to catch up over some cocktails, this is a great spot that is located right next to campus!

I love their iced latte with honey and lavender! You know I love my lavender but the syrups were not too sweet or take away from the coffee taste. I don’t love a lot of sugar so this was perfect! They also serve a variety of milk options as well! Paul Michael ordered an Americano and said it was delicious! They also serve a small selection of
